The Republican Party is full of spineless weak people who refuse to stand up to this administration. If these cowards and sycophants don’t get voted out of office in 2026 it will be proof of the complete lack of goodness and decency in the American people.

I have noticed that, with some courageous exceptions, there are more women speaking truth to power than men in spite of the intimidating threats, some involving rape and torture. Sociologists will be studying this for years as to why so many men hide like mice being stalked by a feline predator. There are so many cowardly Republican senators that could have stopped these obviously unqualified cabinet nominations, but were rendered impotent out of fear, greed or selfishness. It is disgusting and shameful.

Excellent point Ron! My hope is that all this chaos, craziness, and cruelty will inspire Americans to get involved, practice citizenry and as a result we will have a stronger American Democracy. Before Trump I took everything for granted, elections, checks and balances, the First Amendment. Previous generations have told us that democracy is fragile and each generation has to do their part to protect it. I now fully understand what they were talking about. As Benjamin Franklin said, "A Republic, if you can keep it."

You forgot to mention the Palestinians and those advocating for them to live free from occupation and for stopping genocide.

Stop clutching your pearls and do your job, senator. You are a disgrace to all who have lost their lives for our freedom. What more is there to fear than that? Shameful.

Fear is for people with the luxury of HOPE. Take hope away and see what happens. Or, I don’t know…STOP this dictatorship bullshit.

I live in Alaska and regularly witness Senator Murkowski’s courage and compassion, firsthand. Why are you lambasting her? She was recently in our Capital city and reached out to a local nonprofit in order to meet with the immigrant population in our community and hear their direct stories of how they’re being impacted, she’s met with federal workers, she is one of the few Republicans that is willing to talk to her constituents directly. Do you want her to run cowering from the party? I applaud her for sticking with it and not letting the goons drive her out. Recently one of our Alaska State Representatives said, “the normie Republicans are getting fed up with what’s going on”. They need her there to give them a place to land when they emerge from the Trump trance.

True, I apologize. Tim Miller’s take on this over on The Bulwark was truly ill informed. My response was more for your commenters than for you, the author.

Thanks, Maureen. I’m the king of jumping to a wrong conclusion. No worries. Feel free to share mine with Tim and tell him I said hi.

I did not lambast her. I did not praise her. I did what I suspect was her intention: I made her fears about us.
