Thank you! Americans NEED to see exactly what their president posts on Easter morning, in all its obscenity.

Presidents are the top of our hired help to run our country. Have to ask ourselves: do we want to keep someone on the job who threatens war crimes against 93 million people on Easter morning?

There isn't a mainstream journalist in America who could write that story and get it filed and they all know it. By my informal, back of the envelope calculation, this type of reporting died out sometime in the early 2010s. That's roughly when I stopped reading the Washington Post regularly because it no longer had hard hitting stories that were brave.

Unfortunately, that small percentage of Americans who are with it enough to have days set aside for things will stop and think that Tuesday is leg day, not Power Plant Day, and then go back to their lives.

Totally agree. It’s not even a hard call. This is what the president posted. His words. Publicly.

Plus, his temperament in the midst of a war is vital to note.

The Guardian (UK) didn’t mince words; they called out the exact language and the derangement it signifies. But I didn’t see any legacy US media summon the courage to do so😔

Dorothy Pugh's avatar

True, but the Brits aren’t as squeamish about “bad language” as we Americans are!

Just in case anyone didn’t realize a lot of the major media does indeed “sane wash” Trump’s words… 😢🤦🏼‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Absolutely right, Ron. We cannot, must not, protect the public from this president. Burying the quote simply insults the reader. This is the leader of this country off the rails — reporting that he used “expletives” is malpractice.

Every reporter should be seeking a reaction from Republican elected officials, from religious leaders, from Cabinet officers. Before asking her to defend Trump’s post, reporters should demand that Karoline Leavitt repeat the president’s post verbatim at the next White House briefing. (And if I were your editor, yeah, I would have urged you to cut the intro clause — write what you know and don’t surmise about history)

Good call on the clause. Call it strategic sweep: One of the many things I learned at our beloved AP is that a clever way to protect a cherished part of your story is to give editors something to cut.

I gave ‘em something to cut ;)

Don’t know that I was ever that smart; relied on Furlow brilliance to keep me on point.

Ron Fournier's avatar

Nor was I, to be honest. Furlow and TPH were master teachers. Owe them so much

Jim Kuhnhenn's avatar

TPH was the gold standard.

Legend. Hero. Great guy.

Thank you Ron. Past time for 25th Amendment, because he’s not the only one in administration going off the rails. Let the voting begin and impeach the “crazy bastard”. If it’s not too late

This regime should have been abolished as soon as the orange pestilence signed hundreds of Pres orders on Jan 20, 2025. This rape and pillage of the Republic was foreseen after the first iteration. We the People to save Our Republic must be in the streets every day in opposition to the traitors in Washington, our Statehouses and communities. There is no place for milquetoast posturing against the dismantling of all our institutions and Constitutional rights. We cannot wait for the mid-terms as the enemies of the Republic already have a head start in establishing a team of quislings who would further the implementation of Project 2025 which has already achieved many of its objectives. To save Our Republic and protect Our Constitution will take more than polished actors speachifying on commercial media it will require the concerted efforts of all true believers in this experiment which has been ongoing for 249 years. Let us honor the sacrifices of all those who came before us and remove the traitors, their enablers, financiers, capitulants, without anymore delay. Our future and the futures of the next generations depend on our actions and if need be our sacrifice. Period!_

Thank you, I mean it!

I think you missed the bigger point...the prediction markets were alerted the praise be allah was going to come out today...so not only do we have a rapidly decomposing turd as president, he is enriching himself and others by manipulating his share of the prediction market...
