When you look at it from all the videos available up to now, it's clear he was trying to protect two women being assaulted by federal agents. At one point he's covering the body of one woman with his own when agents drag him away, shove him face first to the ground, kneel on his back, and grab his arms. One agent can be seen scurrying away with a handgun, allegedly the one belonging to Pretti. Then another agent shoots Pretti once, agents back away, and the agent fires into Pretti nine more times (by my count).

The administration began trying to control the narrative from shortly after Pretti was killed, calling the ICU nurse an "assassin" and "domestic terrorist" who threatened federal agents. Nothing could be further from the truth. Setting that aside, the administration should not be saying anything except that it was being investigated and calling for calm. That they're attempting so quickly to control the narrative, and gaslight us, demonstrates clearly that they're covering up a killing.

What’s striking about these recurring incidents is how often accountability is forced to operate only after lethal force has already been used. By then, the legal, political, and narrative terrain is largely set, and public consent becomes something to be argued about rather than something that shaped decisions upstream.

That pattern isn’t just about individual actions — it reflects a structural gap in democratic feedback. When citizen priorities around enforcement, use of force, and oversight aren’t clearly documented and visible before crises occur, escalation becomes easier and accountability becomes retrospective by default.

This is why some of us are focused on building civic infrastructure that makes public priorities legible earlier, not louder later. Tools that surface and aggregate what people actually expect from institutions — before harm occurs — won’t solve everything, but they can narrow the space in which normalization and impunity take hold.

“If this isn’t an American Gestapo it’s a galloping band of dangerously inept federal agents subverting local authority to carry out Trump’s immigrant purge.”

It’s absolutely the former. This is not “Trump’s immigrant purge.” Sure, Trump’s party line was to deport people who are not in the country legally, but CBP and ICE are not even pretending to focus their efforts on individuals who are under deportation orders. Moreover, they’re not even focusing on immigrants (regardless of status). While they do engage in targeted operations that focus on specific individuals, they also grab, attack and detain people simply because they are not white. And that’s not all: they are also grabbing, attacking and detaining - not to mention murdering - white people in the vicinity who demonstrate their objection to the mission and/or attempt to create a record. I know I’m not telling you anything you don’t already know. I’m just saying that this pattern of activity, which has only a nominal focus on undocumented immigrants can’t be chalked up to mere gross ineptitude at immigration enforcement, because immigration enforcement is not what they’re actually trying to do (or is only a portion of it). Indeed, the regime backs up these cosplaying thugs at every opportunity, which tells me that the *Government’s policy* is not really to deport immigrants but instead is to get rid of all people who don’t meet their color standards or who simply don’t support the regime - by deadly force if they so choose. Ergo, Gestapo.

Trump has incited murder of the Jews praying at Tree of Life Synagogue by repeatedly demagoguing the “invasion” from the southern border……in over 100 rallies leading into 2018 midterm he pushed so hard on the “rapists, murderers and terrorists” theme that an online discussion of Nazis on the Reddit subsite Gabr connected the dots of what Trump was saying and what the Jewish Organization HIAS-Hebrew Immingrants Aid Society was doing to aid the indigent migrants showing up and asking for asylum and help at our Mexico border by giving these people assistance!! The shooter got so enraged he said “f*** this” and got off the discussion and collected all his guns and ammo and drove an hour away from where he lived in Western Pa and applied his solution to “the problem” Trump was barking about on Campaign trail and slaughtered 11 congregants at the Temple in Pittsburgh!! 😢 and that doesn’t include what we learned about why a young man in Northern Tx drove to a Walmart in El Paso and killed all those Mexican American shoppers!! Clearly, for those being honest with themselves there is a shocking pattern that started with Trump encouraging his first rally goers in 2015 while running for President the first to “beat the crap out of peaceful but noisy protestors at his rallies! In one case he told a guy in audience to punch out the protestor and not to worry he (Trump) would cover any legal expenses the assaulter would possibly encounter if arrested for assaulting someone!! With Trump violence has always been a through line and I believe that line runs deep among his MAGA base and why some many sitting Congressmen and women and US Senators have remained quiet in the face of this fascist assault on our constitution!! 🤨 Example #1 why haven’t we heard boo hiss from Tom Emmer who is 3rd in House Republican caucus and is from Minnesota!! He’s a total disgrace to his state and country!!🤬

LOL at the spineless republicans who are spinning this considering they are only concerned with 1 amendment and only 1 amendment: the second amendment. Suddenly that's a bad thing.

"He had a gun!"

Minnesota laws allow both concealed and open weapon carry. Minnesota confirmed Alex had the required permits. He was not brandishing a weapon in any of the videos I have seen.

Alex was a nurse. An ICU nurse. And he was clearly aiding the woman who was pushed to the ground. He was maced and it appears he may have been pistol whipped. Before getting shot.

Waiting for the NRA to run to Alex's defense. Just kidding.
