MORNING READ-IN: Stories on Trump's drive for peace in the Middle East; Trump's assault on U.S. cities; the FBI's dangerous gambit; a Democrat's dangerous rhetoric; and America's culture of flops.
Fair points, Laura. But I think the real story isn’t why these texts surfaced when they did — it’s what was actually said. The content tells us far more about character and fitness for office than the timing ever could.
Go Blue Jays! Canada's sole MLB team operates from its largest city, but has a country united behind it, because these days, people's feelings about trump's pseudo-war using tariffs are running high. Sports and politics are inextricably linked. I cheer for the blue team in US politics.
Ron, regarding Jay Jones: I live in Richmond and was a legislative reporter many years ago. While I find the texts abhorrent, what strikes me is that the recipient of these in 2022 did not immediately turn them over to the Virginia Capitol police. Nor did the Speaker. I just find this very odd, and that the chattering classes at the Capitol did not get wind of the story. It's a tiny little bubble down there and pretty much any leaf that falls gets attention. Also, Jones ran against a seasoned prosecutor for the Democratic nomination in June. How did this not get out until after that vetting process? I think it is fair to ask these questions. Especially when there's a bombshell so close to the election. I didn't vote for Jones in the primary but I am sure as heck not supporting the MAGA candidate.

we will have to disagree :)
Diplomacy in action! Baseball is a wonderful distraction regardless of all else.

Hey Laura! Loved your work. All fair questions and no answer to them mitigates the horror of what he said. Dems should bounce him.
I will vote for anyone who rins against Trumps party
Same. But, man, we should have better choices.
